A is for ACME
ACME RECORDS and accompanying mail order service was set up in 1994, its first release was a limited edition CD and vinyl LP of legendary British underground band, SUN DIAL, entitled "Return Journey". This was quickly followed by vinyl only rereleases of such albums by Shide & Acorn, Bent Wind, Stone Angel, Dark, and bringing the world such new classics such as Spiral Sky, Fantasyy Factoryy, Quad, Chemical and Polyphemus. Acme was one of a few pioneering labels that championed limited edition 180 gm thick vinyl releases when the analogue LP was considered a dead format, and major music stores were taking vinyl off the shelves. ACME are first and foremost, music fans, bringing the world, hopefully music they will like and not music that they should be told to like. Expanding in 1996 to bring the world the subsidiary label PSI-FI (releasing a string of very rare Krautrock private presses) and a subscription only label called PRESCRIPTION. Prescription issued two vinyl only series each in an edition of 99 copies only and ran two years. A further series was issued on compact disc in recent times.
The mail order service has blossomed since opening its "doors" to the public in 1994. A paper catalogue has been issued to all customers every four months since this time! Packed full of exotic rare, unusual and incredible reissues, new albums on vinyl as well as CD, the catalogue now presented here for the first time, means that you can find rare and hard to locate albums as originals or reissues on vinyl or CD at the touch of a button! Its that simple!
Finally, ACME is always looking for original albums and singles of anything the same or similar as covered by this site (60s/70s garage/psychedelia/R&B/blues/jazz/punk/beat/soul etc), and as such we are happy to buy or trade in collections or individual items! Do give us an email and we'll be happy to help you out, or indeed, if you need help to find some great new music! We are very willing to point you in the right direction!
So, Stay tuned to the world of ACME!
